Mesquite Release Record Limits
Mesquite provides a current jail list, but its own warning says the web data may not reflect actual custody. A result can aid identity matching. A missing or stale result cannot establish the custody-ending event. Call 972-216-6243 for the direct city check.
The official Mesquite jail list shows the interface used for current records.
Its current-status design is why a written or direct release and transfer confirmation remains necessary.
Confirm a Mesquite Release
Mesquite jail staff are the first direct source. The court can explain the legal event, but the city custody record identifies actual release or transfer. Another warrant, county case, or immigration hold can change the destination.
Use this Mesquite sequence:
- Collect name, date of birth, arrest date, and case or warrant number.
- Check the city list, noting its custody warning.
- Call Mesquite City Jail at 972-216-6243.
- Ask for actual release time, type, and receiving agency.
- Switch to Dallas County or ICE when the city names that custodian.
The Dallas County release record path applies only to a confirmed county transfer. A city release transaction remains the source for a Mesquite-only event.
Mesquite Release Record Fields
A useful city record connects the person, municipal case, and custody-ending action. Ask for existing code definitions rather than guessing what a short disposition means.
| Field | Use |
|---|---|
| Name, DOB, city identifier | Matches the person and detention event. |
| Arrest and booking time | Places the person in city custody. |
| Actual release or transfer time | Shows when the city episode ended. |
| Release type | Identifies the recorded basis. |
| Destination | Separates community release from transfer. |
| Holds | Explains delay or another agency’s claim. |
Municipal court documents can establish a legal outcome. They cannot timestamp physical departure. Pair the court entry with the city custody transaction, and keep both timestamps if they differ.
Mesquite and County Custody
The city and county systems have separate records. Dallas County intake and release processing centers on Lew Sterrett at Commerce Street. A city transfer to the county creates a new booking trail. Keep both identifiers because a city warrant number may not match the county booking number.
The Sheriff lookup reports current county custody, charges, bonds, holds, and housing. It has no release field. A county disappearance after a city transfer is only a lead. Court records and VINE can support the trail, while the Sheriff transaction supplies the county departure and destination.
- Municipal custody
- Detention by the City of Mesquite for a municipal matter.
- Transfer
- Movement to another custodian rather than community release.
- Release transaction
- The operational record of time, type, and destination.
- Disposition
- The legal result, which does not prove the exit time.
Mesquite Release Destinations
Community release is one outcome after the city matter and all holds clear. Transfer to Dallas County is another. A county-level case or warrant can place the person in Lew Sterrett even though city custody has ended. Confirm the destination before choosing the next search.
TDCJ handles state imprisonment after a state commitment. Federal custody belongs with USMS or BOP. ICE uses its own locator and field-office channels. Another city or county may also receive the person. Each agency’s release applies only to its custody boundary.
Preserve the times when sources disagree. Court action may precede detention processing, while the receiving booking can appear after transport and intake.
Mesquite Releases to ICE
Mesquite expressly tells users that jail staff have no information after transfer to ICE. That statement sets a bright custody boundary. Record the city transfer time and then stop asking the city to report later immigration custody.
The Mesquite jail FAQ documents that handoff.
Its warning supports switching to the ICE Online Detainee Locator System, which has spelling, age, lag, and retention limits.
A federal detainer can request custody for up to 48 hours beyond the otherwise applicable release time, excluding weekends and holidays. Describe the event as release from Mesquite to ICE, not community release.
Mesquite Jail Records Contact
Call the city for its own custody event. Ask whether the person remains held, left for the community, or was sent to a named agency.
Mesquite City Jail
Address: 777 N. Galloway Avenue, Mesquite, Texas
Phone: 972-216-6243
Online source: Current jail list
Use: City status, release, and transfer destination.
After an ICE transfer, use ODLS or ICE records. After a Dallas County transfer, call county jail information at 214-761-9025 and request the Sheriff transaction when that custody later ends.
Mesquite Transfer Evidence Chain
Preserve the Mesquite booking or case details before following a transfer. If Dallas County is named, use the county lookup for current custody and save the county booking number, charges, bonds, holds, and location. That lookup has no release date. If the person later leaves it, inspect the court record, check VINE, call county jail information, and request the Sheriff release screen or log.
An ICE handoff requires a different chain. The Mesquite record proves release from city custody and should supply the transfer destination. ODLS then addresses ICE custody within its own limits. An ODLS no-result can reflect spelling, age, lag, or retention rules and does not negate the city transaction. Use ICE field-office or records channels when the locator cannot resolve an older event.
Other destinations also change the search. A state commitment belongs with TDCJ. A federal criminal transfer belongs with USMS or BOP. Another county belongs with that sheriff. Keep the time and agency attached to every statement. Mesquite release, Dallas County release, ICE release, and community release are separate events unless the underlying records connect them.
Mesquite Release Record Check
For an older Mesquite event, give the city name variants, date of birth, arrest range, and case or booking details. Ask for existing custody and transfer records. Web absence can reflect retention, lag, migration, or lawful restrictions. State the limit and follow the named agency rather than inferring release from the current list.
Mesquite Release Confirmation
Keep the city transfer response with later county or ICE records to document the full custody chain.
